Mission

The mission of the UNESCO Chair on Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training in the Digital Era is to support the transformation of educational institutions by enabling them to fully integrate digital technologies into their practices. It is grounded in a methodological approach designed to enhance the quality of education, broaden access to knowledge, and manage the costs associated with digital transformation.

The Chair’s research explores how digital technologies are reshaping the ways we teach and learn. Its work addresses hybrid and online learning, the use of open educational resources, and the role of artificial intelligence in personalizing learning pathways. These developments extend beyond technology alone : they raise important questions about institutional digital governance, the digital competencies required across the educational community, and the capacity to drive pedagogical innovation.

The Chair’s impact is intended to extend well beyond the local context. Its work aims to enhance the educational experience in universities and higher education institutions while strengthening international cooperation — particularly through North – South – South partnerships — to foster knowledge exchange and develop solutions adapted to diverse educational contexts.
